Step up to donate to a community shoes-and-socks drive - Idaho Statesman

Christmas came and went, but the season of giving is still going strong.

And with the cold weather, you can bet that there are some freezing toes in need of cozy socks and sturdy shoes.

Give the gift of warmth and comfort by donating new socks, shoes and boots through Rocky Mountain Foot and Ankle’s Sole Purpose community drive.

According to a news release, “Dr. Roman Burk, podiatrist at Rocky Mountain Foot and Ankle, chose to collect new socks and new and gently used shoes as a way to obtain footwear for those less fortunate in the Treasure Valley. “

All items will benefit Interfaith Sanctuary in Boise, which “serves people of all genders, races, religions, and sexual orientation, as well as families with children, by providing safe overnight emergency shelter and practical services to transition out of homelessness.”

Having the right footwear can affect the entire body. For instance, if your feet are cold, good luck trying to heat up the rest of the body.

Keeping the feet warm and dry is not always easy this time of year, so you can image how difficult it is for those who are struggling and possibly braving the elements for longer periods of time. Not good.

The shoes-and-socks drive continues through Thursday, Jan. 31.

And with several offices throughout the Treasure Valley, helping is easy. Donations boxes are located at offices in Meridian, Eagle, Nampa and Caldwell, or donate to gofundme.com/sole-purpose-shoe-sock-drive.
